Vito Lucco was born in Palermo in 1969, but grew up in Turin, where his family moved when he was just a year old (in Sicily his father had worked in the confectionery business).
In 1990 he opened the gelateria in Via Luini and, 20 years later, the second in Corso Vittorio Emanuele, which subsequently moved to Piazza Bodoni under the supervision of his wife Emma Smaldone. In March 2026 he opened a special chocolate and confectionery workshop in Corso Potenza, while the ice cream is produced in two separate workshops in Via Luini and Piazza Bodoni.
The philosophy of the business is that ice cream should go in display cases and never in wells because, as Vito says, “It’s not enough for it to be good, it has to be beautiful too”. The pistachio comes from a Sicilian supply chain which they deal with first-hand and they use Valrhona chocolate for their more complex recipes.
Thirty or so flavours are available, along with Sicilian granitas, seasonal fruit ice lollies, imaginative iced cakes – Amanda, Ceresa, Lukova – and, as of 2026, single-portions in jars.
