Buono e Sano – Gelato italiano

This café-gelateria (open all year round, every day from 7.30am to 12 midnight) is a landmark in the centre of Rivarolo, and a second place was opened recently in Cirié. Both use the same products, which arrive from the workshop in Rivarolo, together with the savoury “gelato gastronomico” (with peperone, Gorgonzola and salt cod). Marco Nicolino runs the business with his wife Emanuela Baudino, and his ice creams stand out for their reduced sugar content, which makes them very easy to digest. The fruit purees, sauces and frosting are also self-produced. Of the 20 or so flavours available, we especially recommend the rosehip milk, “Terre di Sicilia” (almond, pistachio and orange blossom), pistachio (water-based)), hay blossom with rhododendron honey, and “Regina delle Langhe” (Piedmontese hazelnut). The impressive range of granitas is served with house-baked brioches. Also on sale a variety of ice cream cakes, semifreddos and tarts (some milk-free) and a highly popular zabaglione ice cream.
