La Frutteria di GaidoActive for three generations, this shop on Via Piol has long been a reference point for quality fruit and vegetables in the historic centre of Rivoli. Today it is run by Pietro Gaido, who selects his range carefully from local producers and the best farms across Italy. The range includes certified organic products, numerous Slow Food Presidia – among them Moncalieri cauliflowers, Orbassano red celery, Caraglio heritage garlic and Giarratana onions – as well as PGI specialties such as Matera strawberries and Vignola cherries, plus seasonal local produce. Mushrooms and truffles are particular specialties, rigorously certified, available in season and also dried and preserved in oil. Rounding out the range are exotic fruits grown in southern Italy, preserves, pasta and fruit juices from selected farms. Suppliers include Sicilian olive oil producer Centonze and De Tacchi for rice.
