Maurizio Palladino has one of those butcher’s counters we all dream of – and makes you want to buy everything, or almost. Quality meat, tempting gastronomic delicacies and oven-ready meals, most of which, but not all by any means, from traditionally Piedmontese recipes – this fantastic counter has been a reference point among butchers in the town’s Crocetta quarter since 1993. It has always been renowned for the quality of its meat and oven-ready specialities, from classics such as the giant meatballs to creative recipes, from stuffed tortillas to assorted savoury diplomatici. The delicatessen section stocks a great many specialities from the shop’s own kitchen: hence foods preserved in oil, traditional antipasti (such as insalata russa, Russian salad, and vitello tonnato), pates and aspics, carpione, marinated fish, meat and vegetables (be sure to taste the meatballs) and salads. The range is rounded off by a small assortment of fine quality grocery items.
