Amici Miei

Amici Miei

For 20 years the Pasticceria Amici Miei has been a reference point for lovers of great food delicacies from the South of Italy. The specialties are typical Neapolitan cakes and pastries such as rum babas, zeppole, pastiera and savarins (which differ from the rum babas for their ring shape), plus two great Sicilian classics, ricotta-filled cannoli and the splendid, colorful frutta martorana, made of marzipan paste. More recently, two Sardinian specialties – less famous but well worth trying – have been introduced: formaggelle of ricotta, saffron and citrus zest and soft Maracalogonis amaretti. There is also a vast array of savory goods: canapés, filled semi-sweet panini, pizzettas and focaccinas. At Christmas, panettone comes sweet and savory (don’t miss the one with zucchini and scamorza or the one with pecorino and sun-dried tomatoes), while at Easter torta pasqualina, Ligurian egg and vegetable pie, and, above all, the celebrated Neapolitan savory loaf casatiello prepared to order. The assortment is completed by hand-tempered chocolate. A confectionery workshop specializing in gluten-free products has been active nearby for some years now.
