The Avidano pastry and chocolate shop, Chieri’s pride and joy, is situated under the arch of triumph that looks onto the central Piazza Umberto I. Marco, an indefatigable artisan confectioner, has been named one of the leading master chocolatiers in Europe and on his modern premises you’ll always find new creations, the fruit of the imaginative elaboration of carefully selected ingredients. The counter brims over with traditional fresh confectionery and biscuits, 30 types of pralines, some of the finest giandujotti in the province and an assortment of chocolate bars. The bar serves excellent brioches (including vegan, emmer and kamut), peach pastries and focaccia di Chieri, both the classic version and the new Tropézienne, with Chantilly cream, which has nothing to envy the Riviera speciality. Panettone (look out for the Piedmontese version), pandoro, colomba and Easter eggs are available in the appropriate seasons. Recent novelties include fruit spreads, individual chocolate and fruit mousses and chocolate-coated ice cream, and artisan ice cream is produced in summer. Open every day from 7.30am to 8.30pm.
