In 2014, when Monica Castagnero decided to launch this brewery in the commune of Rosta, it was all the “fault” of her father, Andrea, and his hobby – homebrewing. With the help of Mattia Soster – who graduated as a master brewer at the University of Gastronomic Sciences and has worked in a number of breweries – using homegrown barley and wheat, she has created one of the few truly agricultural breweries in Italy. The beers, which are unpasteurised and unfiltered, are available in casks and bottles. The refreshing Bionda B27 is flanked by beers made with special hops (California Love), some, such as H-Iga, made with grapes from the brewery’s own vineyards, others conditioned in barrels and steel vats (Old River) and the new entry,Total Eclipse, a well-structured stout conditioned in whisky barrels. One of the most interesting new developments is the tap-room adjacent to the brewery, where at weekends it is possible to drink the beers with platters of charcuterie and cheese produced for the most part by other Masters of Taste.
