If you happen to find yourself on the road from Caluso to Lake Candia, be sure to stop off at this lovely cellar, managed by Roberto Crosio. You’ll be won over by Monica’s friendliness and the passion with which Roberto runs the place. Everything is neat and tidy: the new labels are clear and precise – not to mention artistically attractive – and the wine is produced with great attention to local grape varieties and the environment. The grapes are selected and matured in steel vats. The cellar produces an interesting range of three varieties of Erbaluce: Erbalus is for easy drinking, Primavigna, made with selected grapes, is elegant, and Costa Paradiso is more firmly structured. Then come a fine Piemonte Rosato (produced mainly with Nebbiolo grapes) and an interesting fresh, fruity, full-bodied Piemonte Merlot. Also very good are the passito, Eva D’Or, aged for four years in oak barrels, and a splendid metodo classico, of which we recommend Incanto 80, a great single-vintage aged for almost ten years. The cellar is open to visitors every day except Tuesday, from 9.30am to 12.00 midday and from 3pm to 7.30pm.
