There are, roughly speaking, four winegrowing zones in the province of Turin; the Susa Valley, the Canavese district, the Turin hills and the Pinerolo area. It’s an important patrimony with a sizeable production, but too often the wines aren’t as well-known as they should be. Hence the idea of creating a showcase in the heart of one of these zones to raise the profile of local wines. This enoteca in the historical Palazzo Valperga di Masino in the centre of Caluso, encapsulates its name: “enoteca,” from the Greek theke (“to harvest”) and eno (“wine”). In the red room you’ll find all the labels of the affiliated producers, and in addition to the exhibition room, there is a tasting and lecture room. The place also sells a selection of local food specialities, packaged and in jars, made with ingredients typical of the province of Turin. Open on Sunday afternoon in the summer months, on Tuesday morning in the winter.
