Farinel on the Road came into being a few years ago to serve up top-quality street food. There are two fantastic food trucks, one of which is always parked in one of the balmetti – lovely cellars cooled by a natural ventilation system which connects them and fills them with fresh mountain air – of Borgofranco d’Ivrea. Here the magnificent beer garden is very popular in the summer months (open in the evenings from Thursday to Sunday, at weekends at lunchtime too). A second truck follows events across Piedmont. The range of food consists of miasse, a flatbread typical of the Canavese district made with cornmeal from the Mulino di Piova mill (a Master of Taste), which goes well with salignon (a local creamy ricotta blended with aromatic herbs), with the typical local potato salami, with the delicious cheese matured in the balmetti, or with salame di turgia, a beef-pork salami. We also recommend the panini, filled with the same local products, as well as bagna caoda and gorgonzola. Other specialties include meat skewers, bombette dei balmetti (stuffed pork rolls), Borgofranco raw beef, cheese and charcuterie platters and crostoni, giant open sandwiches. All served with Kumbach beers, brewed in Bavaria by a family from Gressoney.
