For several years now, thanks to Giuseppe, the Roggero farm has specialized in bee farming and the production of high-quality honeys. The farm, which is immersed in the greenery under the morainal hill of Rivoli, also grows cereals such as pignoletto rosso, used to produce excellent polenta flour. However, the main activity remains family apiculture, most of which practiced by hand. Every phase in the production process is carried out in the workshop, which is recognized as an alcohol processing plant for the production and packaging of propolis. The apiaries are situated in a number of different largely mountainous areas in the Val di Susa, Val Sangone and Val Pellice, where they gather the high-altitude rhododendron honey that may be found on sale at Campagna Amica markets, along with dandelion, acacia, lime, chestnut, mountain millefiori and cherry, and apiary by-products such as wax, pollen, royal jelly and propolis. The farm is part of Italy’s “fattoria didattica” (educational farm) network, organizing guided visits and summer camps for school parties and groups.
