Roberto was one of the first people in the Canavese district to believe in the cultivation of hemp, at a time when many preferred corn or grain monocultures. First he established a farm to grow hemp, then Green Italy, which commercialises hemp by-products. In addition to classic decorticated hempseeds, hempseed oil and flour, he produces a vast array of other goods, all organic without chemicals. Naturally rich in omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids, hemp can play an extraordinary role in the daily diet: hence foodstuffs, from local specialties such as torcetti biscuits and grissini made with hemp and heirloom verna grain flour, to pesto with basil and decorticated hempseeds, and mixed vegetables with hempseeds. Roberto produces a great number of pasta shapes with hemp, corn, rice and buckwheat flour, and adds hempseed to his chickpea pesto and his line of condiments and jams, which includes flavours such as pear and ginger, citrus fruit and cherry. Another specialty is chocolate: hence plain bars with hempseed and a spreading cream of cacao, hazelnut and, again, hemp. The range is rounded off by a vegan mayonnaise made with extra virgin hempseed oil.
