Medicinal and aromatic herbs are cultivated and harvested (all by hand) on land divided by ancient stone terraces in Mattie and Meana, in the Susa Valley. Since 2014, Efrem Alberto and his partner have championed the local area through organic cultivation and natural products that speak for themselves. Everything happens in the on-site workshop, from steam distillation to obtain essential oils to infusion for preparing mother tinctures, oleolites or glyceritic macerates. The signature product is lavender, from which natural cosmetics and household products are made; there is also a phytotherapy line with hawthorn extract, helichrysum and blackcurrant, along with instant herbal infusions like chamomile, lavender and orange or elderflower. The farm also produces paste di melighe (cornmeal cookies) from an old Sant’Ambrogio recipe and jams and marmalades made with locally sourced fruit.
