This shop is in the centre of Chivasso, home to nocciolini, small hazelnut confections, known here by their historic name, noasetti. As well as PGI Piedmontese ‘tonda e gentile’ hazelnuts, the ingredients are sugar and egg whites. Today there are two points of sale: the original one in Chivasso and the other in Via Barbaroux in the centre of Turin. Here they are firmly bound to tradition in their recipes but show a great capacity for innovation in their packaging: their new totally innovative biscuit line, in fact, dedicates a story to each variety on the box. The first tells the true story of noasetti, the second informs that a new Piemontese hazelnut tree will be planted in Chivasso for every four boxes sold, and the other two are tongue-in-cheek explanations of the Piedmontese expressions pròpi Bastian Contrari (a right stick-in-the-mud) and pròpi face ‘d tòla(brazen-faced). In addition to biscuits, they also sell historic hazelnut tart, cornmeal biscuits made with otto file corn, splendid meringues from Iginio Massari’s old recipe, baci di dama, made exclusively with butter, hazelnut flour and chocolate, brut e bun and fruit tarts. At the Chivasso shop you’ll also find a selection of local produce such as rice, jam and excellent wines.
