Situated on Turin’s fashionable Piazza Benefica, the first Italian gelateria to be certified “lactose-free” is popular with young people and its products tell their own story. Here Cristiano Talpo and Marco Benenati have turned their attention to the many people who have developed food intolerances, especially to lactose and gluten. Hence ice creams made fresh every day with organic rice milk and natural sugars, without ingredients of animal origin, rich in fibres, hence more digestible. Classic flavours such as Cisca (almond, coconut and plain chocolate), Crema amica (lemon zest, curcuma and vanilla) apple and ginger, walnut (plus other dried fruits), and lemon and mint, have now been joined by tempting new ones, such as Snoopy, made with peanuts, caramel and crunchy biscuit. Other specialities include ice cream bars, ice cream sandwiches, iced cakes, fresh fruit extracts and matchless smoothies with whipped vegetal cream. In winter you’ll also find baked desserts served with the ice creams on offer. The latest innovation is the Combomerenda snack, consisting of a slice of iced or cream cake with a beverage of your choice. Closed on Monday in the winter months.
