La Palera is a small winery in Borgomasino whose strong point is quality. If you happen to be in the area in the evening or at the weekend – maybe visiting nearby Masino Castle – you’re welcome to stop by for a tasting of its excellent wines, starting from the Erbaluce, produced with cold maceration, the Rosso Canavese (90% barbera) and the passitos (wines made from ripe grapes harvested and hung from balconies to wither, and released after aging no fewer than four years).

The latter are made not only with erbaluce grapes but also with bonarda and barbera, and are excellent served with cheese. Erbaluce Cino 2019, yellow in color with lovely greenish highlights and with delicate floral and herby aromas, and Passito di Erbaluce 2017, with its nice acid-sugar balance, scored 90 points at the Vinitaly wine show in Verona.

The winery has received Integrated Crop Management National Quality System (SQNPI) certification for reducing to a bare minimum its use of chemicals in the vineyards.
