In 2016, the Azienda Agricola Cerettese, a farm active since the late 1970s, decided to restructure La Porporata, a lovely historical farmhouse with an avenue lined with plane trees and a votive shrine, to turn it into an “agrigelateria.” There’s plenty of space and parkland, hence La Porporata’s popularity with families and school parties (and also for birthday parties and visits to the adjoining “educational farm”). Ice creams are made with fresh milk from the farm’s Friesian cows and come in about 25 flavors on a seasonal rotational basis. One of the favorites, named for the farm, is made with chocolate, amaretti and black cherries. We also recommend crema dei nonni, made with Usseglio cornmeal biscuits, and stuffed peach, inspired by the classic Piedmontese dessert. For white chocolate lovers, there’s bacio d’amore bianco, served with strawberry coulis. The range is rounded off by fresh cream, granitas, milk shakes, cakes and semifreddi.
