Laura and Aldo’s olde worlde shop, a stone’s throw from the San Salvario street market, has been a sanctuary for cheese lovers for more than 50 years. Here you’ll find dairy delicacies of every kind from mozzarellas made with the milk of buffaloes raised in Carmagnola to ricottas and fresh goat’s cheeses from Chialamberto, from the zizzona di Battipaglia (a mozzarella weighing at least a kilo) to robiola alle robiole, from caprini and tomini to Castelmagno, from Fiore Sardo sheep’s cheese to Gorgonzola and Murianengo. Not to mention mountain cheeses such as PDI Fontina and the selection of tomas, including those of Matteo Villa from the Valchiusella. In addition to the dairy products (we recommend the yoghurt and fresh milk), you’ll find fruit preserves, honeys and sauces (to go with the cheeses), charcuterie (the prosciuttos from Cuneo and Parma, aged 24 months, are outstanding), fresh pasta, baked goods and, from October to January, the prized truffles of Alba and the Monferrato. Open from 8.15am to 2pm and from 4pm to 8.15pm. Closed on Sunday.
