This bee farm at the foot of the Serra d’Ivrea morainic ridge, not far from Lake Viverone, came into being in 1998, the fruit of a family passion that has its roots in the 1970s. The reins have since passed progressively from the founder Giuseppe Perino to his sons Emanuele, Filippo and Gianmarco. Certified organic in 2010, the farm produces a broad variety of honeys, partly thanks to the rich vegetation of the morainic amphitheatre that constitutes the Canavese area and, in summer, nomadic beekeeeping in the Valle di Gressoney, the Val d’Ayas and the Val Chiusella up to altitudes of close on 2,000 metres. Leading the range are rhododendron and mountain raspberry, followed by acacia and chestnut and, in favourable years, dandelion and cherry. Through collaboration with beekeepers in other regions, the range has been expanded to include with citrus and Mediterranean scrub honeys.
At the farm shop, through a network of specialised outlets and online, it is also possible to buy honey vinegars and grappas, chocolates and sweets, cream spreads and health products such as honey-based food supplements and nutraceuticals. On the website it is also possible to “adopt” one of the farm’s hives according to any of four different formulas.
