Opened in the center of Turin in 1981 by the Miretti family, this artisan gelateria was taken over by present owner Leonardo La Porta in 1989. Leonardo recently entered the Top 10 in the World Ranking based on results achieved over the last ten years in the competition on the Gelato Festival circuit. This important recognition is a reward for his work and creativity in recent years, when headline news and historical events have inspired him to come up with imaginative flavors: CR7 flavoured with the typical Portuguese liqueur Ginjinha dedicated to Cristiano Ronaldo, for example, or Crema San Giovanni, dedicated to the patron saint of Turin, made with bread, pepper and saffron custard, according to an old charitable tradition, or Euroskin, dedicated to the Eurovision Song Contest, or Bella Rosina, inspired by Rosa Vercellana, King Vittorio Emanuele II’s morganatic wife.
More generally, in addition to flavors that never change (the plain and vanilla are exceptional), six new ones are introduced every month on a rotation basis. The low GI flavor also changes monthly, much to the joy of those who have to limit their sugar consumption for health reasons.
