The Maggio family, who hail from Gallipoli in Puglia, have always been active in the worlds of fishing and selling fish. When Totò and Celeste moved to Turin in 1965, they brought with them their know-how and love of the sea, opening a fish and seafood stall. It was only in 2019 that they left the business, which is now run by their son Maurizio, though they are always on hand to offer advice. Now Maurizio is flanked by his sister Catia and wife Maria Girardi, whose painstaking cleaning and filleting work is vital.
Dal Marinaro places the emphasis on fish from all over Italy, though sole, oysters and salmon may come from Northern Europe. The growing demand for raw fish has induced the Maggios to supplement their classic ready-to-cook dishes with trays of raw mollusks and crustaceans, which it is of course advisable to book in advance. A home delivery service is available for all the stall’s products.
